  • Sahara Dust Causes UK Air Pollution Warning. April 2, 2014

The Government Environment Department DEFRA has forecast “Moderate to High air pollution levels” across central and south east England. This surge of pollution has been caused by a combination of local emissions that we come to expect around cities and industrial areas, and also dust which is being drawn across the UK from the Sahara on a current weather system.

With the Sahara dust being introduced to our air space we will experience an increase in particulate levels including PM10 and PM2.5, which can present risk to us all, but in particular adults and children with respiratory problems. For health advice and recommended actions visit the DEFRA Daily Air Quality Index Web Site.

The majority of the air filters we manufacture are for the removal of particulates in industrial or commercial premises, but our filters are being increasingly installed in domestic properties. G4, F7 and sometimes HEPA filters are installed into heat recovery and air intake ventilation systems to ensure PM10 and PM2.5 levels are kept to a minimum within the home, offering occupants a healthy environment. We are often asked to provide an air quality solution in homes where there is no existing ventilation system and for this we offer the Ezee Breathe range which can be used to recirculate and filter air in the home using a HEPA filter.

  • Indoor Air Quality Filtration System – NO2, SO2, VOC, PM10, PM2.5 Domestic Air Filter April 28, 2013

City Breathe - Nitrogen Dioxide Filter System

New for 2013 is the Airclean Indoor Air Quality Filtration System. Encorporating 3 stages of filtration including G4 and F7 to EN779 Particulate Filters and a Gas Phase Filter this system removes indoor contaminants meeting EN13779 requirements.

The Indoor Air Quality Filtration System gas filtration phase is specifically designed to remove indoor air pollutants including Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), VOCs and Ozone, making this filtration system suitable for use on both domestic and commercial new builds to meet local authority requirements in UK Air Quality Zones.

The Indoor Air Quality Filtration System is available in scaleable options for high duty commercial buildings and also for low duty, low resistance domestic heat recovery systems.

    New Technical Bulletin – EN13779:2007

Read our latest technical bulletin on the European Standard for ventilation and air conditioning in non-residential buildings.

For a filtration company this standard is of great importance as it is the closest standard that exists stating the level of filtration that should be used to provide a good level of indoor air quality.

For system designers and consultants it offers detail on required air change rates and filtration for the supply of air to commercial and public buildings to provide a healthy environment for occupants.

Read the technical bulletin by clicking on the following link and also visit our testing branch, Airclean Environmental for more details on how to test, inspect and analyse occupant health in indoor environments.
