Applications

A Laminar Flow Cabinet offers a localised clean air solution which can operate to Class 5 of ISO 14644-1:2015.  The Laminar Flow Cabinet is designed to prevent contamination for an operation performed within the working area where laminar flow clean air is presented by a tested H14 HEPA Filter.

The clean laminar air-flow will also force any contamination out of the working area to protect the process from further contamination risk.

Typical applications for Laminar Flow Cabinets include electronics such as work with semiconductor wafers, and microbiological work such as Mycology (mushroom cultivation), and Orchid Seeding.

Description

The Airclean Tabletop Laminar Flow Cabinet is fabricated in Dove Grey Plastic Coated Sheet Steel, which can be easily cleaned.  The cabinet includes a Pre-Filter, a Tested H14 Grade HEPA Filter to EN1822, and a fan which is speed controlled to attain laminar air flow.

Both the H14 HEPA filter and Pre-Filters are user replaceable, and should be changed when they reach a dirty state and laminar air velocity (0.45m/s) can no longer be attained.

The Laminar Flow Cabinet is available in two sizes (Standard “2ft x 2ft” and XL “2ft x 4ft”) and three configurations which the user can choose at the time of purchase.

Configuration options will be selected at the time of purchase, but additional screen options can be purchased and interchanged.

PLEASE NOTE THIS PRODUCT REQUIRES SOME BASIC ASSEMBLY. ALL TOOLS ARE PROVIDED.

DeliveryGenerally in Stock (7-10 Days if not), We palletise every delivery of these units to ensure they get to the client in one piece. We have had a lot of experience trying to deliver these items cheaper, and the damage rate was simply too high.

Maximum Clean Air Classifications can only be attained where the horizontal or vertical units are purchased.  The popular “Flow Hood” style encourages turbulent and turbulent air around the edges of the face, so work must be kept approx. 50mm within the boundaries of the perceived working area.

Screens are supplied flat pack and require basic assembly (simple nut and bolt) Vertical and Horizontal screens may require sealant to attain the highest clean air classifications.

A Laminar Flow Cabinet is designed to protect the process, and not the operator and must not be confused with a “Safety Cabinet”.

FAQ - Tabletop Laminar Flow Cabinets

Our Hoods offer a HEPA Filtration efficiency of 99.997% @ 0.3 micron. A typical bacteria that will contaminate your mycology work are commonly 0.5-10 micron, anything less than a tested H14 HEPA is not enough. Each HEPA filter is individually tested and supplied with a certificate of testing.

Our unique HEPA filter clamping system ensures a perfect seal between the flow hood and the HEPA filter, and makes the filter easily replaceable. The most common place for contaminated air leaks is between the flow hood and the filter. Leaks can not be seen by the naked eye, and only highly calibrated devices can identify such leaks. Our unit is tested in house, to remove the chance of leaks.

Laminar Air Flow, is about removing turbulance, and maximising air carry distance. Laminar air flow is achieved at an airspeed of 0.45m/s, but requires guidance to ensure turbulance is not picked up from around a flow hood. We offer our flow hood with optional “Screens” or sides. This allows the air to move forward without picking up contaminated air from around the hood, which is seen in the majority of flow hoods used in mycology.

As the filters get dirty, the air speed of the flow hood will decrease as the resistance to airflow increases. Our powerful speed controllable fan allows the user to increase the speed of the fan as required, to give the maximum filter life before needing to change it.
