Applications
The Disposable Glass Fibre Panel Air Filter is widely used in ventilation and air conditioning systems. This cardboard framed panel air filter is inexpensive and offers a medium to low efficiency grade of filtration.
Glass Panel Filters can act as a main filter, offering protection to ventilation components such as heat pumps, hot water and electric heaters, and fans from coarse debris and particulates.
The Glass Fibre Panel Filter is suitable for use as a pre-filter to extend the life of secondary higher efficiency air filters.
Description
Glass Fibre Panel Air Filters contain a pad of a coated graduated continuously spun glass filament. The fibre glass pad is then retained within either a standard rigid cardboard filter frame, or an Airclean Moisture Resistant (AMR) cardboard frame. Air Filter stiffening bars can be provided if required.
Our method of manufacture for this style of panel air filter utilises modern hot melt adhesive techniques, which produce a rigid and robust product designed to maintain its integrity through its life.
A standard range of sizes are available, but any reasonable size of glass fibre panel filter can be manufactured.
Airclean Moisture Resistant Panel (AMR) Filter
Airclean Moisture Resistant Panel Filters are for use in high humidity or moist environments. These premium filters still have a cardboard frame, but have a higher moisture resistance than our standard range, which help the filter maintain rigidity and functionality without structural failure.
Airclean Moisture Resistant Panels are available in G2/3 Glass Fibre, G3 Synthetic and G4 Pleated Panel Filters. “AMR Panel Filters” are manufactured in the same way as our standard panel filters but utilise “Carrier / Beverage Board” which has an increased wet-strength.

FAQ - Glass Fibre Panel Filters
Glass Fibre Panel Filters offer a low grade of filtration and are designed to take out larger particulates including (but not limited to) general dust, lint, pet dander, grease, oils and paint paticulates. A high efficiency (95% +) of particulates from 10 micron and above can be captured by a glass Fibre Panel Filter.
Glass Fibre Panel Filters are used in a wide range of applications, in heating and ventilation systems where large particulates need to be removed and internal components of a system need to be protected. Compressor air intakes, heat pump air intakes domestic and commercial heating systems, paint spray booths, and commercial extract systems.
The life of an air filter is difficult to predict as it depends on where, and how it is being used. Each filter has an initial / clean pressure drop and a final / dirty pressure drop that should be determined by a systems designer, and measured by a device such as a magnahelic guage, or inclined manometer.
No! Glass fibre panel filters are disposable, cleaning them might damage the glass fibres and reduce their filtration efficiency.
Glass fibre panel filters have historically been used to capture grease particulates in commercial kitchens, but these days we do not recommend it, as they can shed fibres which could get in the food.
We suggest any existing systems using glass fibre are changes to use Metal Style Grease Filters (Mesh or Baffle Kitchen Grease Filters)
