  • Airclean Environmental – A New Division September 21, 2012

Airclean Environmental at the Kent Wellbeing Symposium
On the 3rd October 2012 Airclean Environmental will be showcasing new services and products at The Kent Wellbeing Symposium.

Over the past 30 years of manufacturing air filters and testing clean rooms we have become experts in indoor environments and the effect they can have on occupants. Awareness on the effects of buildings on occupants is on the increase and has led to new legislation and guidelines being introduced which employers must act upon. Airclean Environmental is launched to identify problems and shortfalls in building environments which can lead to the ill health (both mental and physical) of occupants and employees.

The services of Airclean Environmental are aimed to assist Employers and building managers to test and assess their work spaces and identify any problems they may have. By reporting and advising on various improvements that can be made to the working environment, a plane of action can be implemented to improve the working environment having a direct impact on employees and occupants wellbeing and minimise absenteeism and increase productivity.

The Kent WellBeing Symposium is a conference bringing together experts in all fields of Health and Wellbeing and is an opportunity for employers, Building Managers, schools, local authorities, and community groups to learn, and implement wellbeing schemes into their organisations.

Including guest speakers, seminars, interactive workshops and networking opportunities this Wellbeing Event is a day where you can set your own agenda to learn and implement ideas and methodology of Wellbeing and Engaged Prevention in your organisation.

To learn more about Airclean Environmental keep checking this blog, twitter, and the Airclean Website, as we release more details in the lead up to the Kent Wellbeing Symposium.

  • Kitchen Extract Odour Control : DEFRA Guidance May 20, 2012

    Kitchen Extract Odour Control Systems

We are often approached by entrepreneurs, architects, consultants and restaurant owners who need to address odour control at the planning stage of opening a new catering establishment. Odour and nuisance control are a common requirement of local authority environmental health for a new restaurant or take away to gain planning permission.

It is not written in stone what a local authority will deem as acceptable for nuisance control, but most authorities use the DEFRA : Guidance on the Control and Noise from Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Systems, as an acceptable benchmark for kitchen extract odour control.

This guidance report outlines methods on kitchen extract system design with a specific focus on nuisance control including odour emissions. The DEFRA Guidance gives precise guidelines for kitchen extract on odour control methods and equipment taking into account the type, size and location of the catering establishment.

The DEFRA guidance is very fair in that it accepts many different forms of odour abatement without prejudice, however it is important that the right choices are made to suit a particular establishment.

Airclean offer a full range of products that can be used on their own or in a combination to offer a complete odour control solution for a kitchen exhaust system that meets the requirements of the DEFRA Guidance. We work with clients at the planning stage to select and specify the correct odour control equipment to offer effective odour control whilst meeting the requirements of the local authorities.

  • Site Engineer Tool : Iphone App for Measuring Up April 12, 2012
My Measures I Phone App for Site Engineers
My Measures IPhone App for Site Engineers

We are not usually in the game of promoting other peoples products, but this iPhone app really is a little gem for site visits, and our engineers really have taken to it.

My Measures & Dimensions is a really useful app for storing object dimensions on top of a photograph taken on your phone. When on site our engineers simply take a photo of the area in question and add dimensions all from their smart phone.

The engineer can add arrows with dimensions, labelled angels and their own text right on top of the photo. You can also export your entire library so you upload them to your computer when you get back to the office.

When we visit a site to measure up, our engineer will often use this handy application to photograph and label an area ensuring that upon returning to the office they knows that we have all the information needed for that important air movement system design, or if that the grease filter we measured in a kitchen really was 47mm thick!

This app completely takes away the chances of a paper sketch being lost or misinterpreted, we just have to look at the picture and can see all the dimensions we need.

Click here to download the app from the Itunes website.
