  • HEPA Filters – Retrofitting in Various Scenarios May 20, 2020

TECHNICAL BULLETIN : HEPA Filters for Infection Control – Retrofitting in Various Scenarios
    Date: 22nd May 2020

This technical bulletin aims to explain various scenarios and methods of using HEPA filters to introduce infection control in the workplace, hospitals, homes, schools, and other indoor environments.

Improved ventilation and infection control are becoming a requirement in all indoor environments in light of the Corona Virus Pandemic. In some scenarios this will include HEPA filters which can be difficult to retrofit into situations due to their high resistance to airflow, bulky nature and specialist installation requirements.

The following scenarios show how the Airclean HEPA Air Purifier, or Airclean Fan + Filter Indoor Air Quality Filtration System, can be used to quickly retrofit HEPA filtration into your indoor environment, with minimal disruption.

    HOSPITAL ISOLATION ROOM – Typical

Extract : Standalone fan extracts through wall mounted HEPA Terminal Housing maximising infection control, both in and out of the room.

HOSPITAL / CAREHOME ISOLATION ROOM – Emergency

Extract : Airclean HEPA Air Purifier in extract setup discharging through wall or window, to put room under negative pressure.

All Scenarios – No HVAC Option – Care Home, Office, School, etcÔǪ

The Airclean HEPA Air Purifier will improve air quality, and reduce infection transmission in any scenario, independent of existing heating and cooling systems, by recirculating and cleaning the air.

FAN COIL SYSTEMS – Scenario 1 (Restaurants, Offices)

The Airclean HEPA Air Purifier can be mounted in a room and ducted to supply fresh clean air to the back of existing fan coil air conditioning. The fan in the Air Purifier allows the system to be balanced, allowing existing fan coil fans, to handle the strain.

FAN COIL SYSTEMS – Scenario 2

The Airclean Fan + Filter Unit can be mounted in the ceiling void supporting an existing fan coil, or air handling unit, to improve filtration. The fan within the Fan + Filter Unit removes any additional load on existing equipment.

  • Particle Size Comparison Technical Bullitin May 13, 2020

We have designed a new Technical Bulleting surrounding the size of particles in microns.

A similar chart has been available as a technical bulletin for many years. We has revamped this in April 2020 amidst the corona virus pandemic as part of the Airclean information suite for the understanding of Corona Virus
    and filtration.

The following chart is a generalised summary of particle sizes that are encountered in both indoor and outdoor environments in microns. This chart can be used as guidance in the selection of air filters.

  • APRIL 2020 INFORMATION AND CURRENT MANUFACTURING STATUS April 7, 2020
APRIL 2020 – Airclean Production remains operational with a limited capacity.

Any enquiries please contact the sales team.

    Sales Team: 01622 832777 sales@airclean.co.uk

Over the past few weeks we have been involved in a few rapid turnaround NHS projects, where we have had to manufacture and supply Fan and Filter (incl. HEPA) systems for use in new Isolation Wards.

At all times, our priority is the health and safety of our staff. We have enforced home working where possible, and an increased level of hygiene and social distancing within the factory environment.

Lead Times – Whilst we are prioritising critical manufacture, we still have capacity. Please contact the sales team to discuss your requirements.

  • Air Pollution Filters for Schools June 10, 2019

As concerns about Air Quality in schools we are often asked about Pollution Air Filters and Pollution Reduction Solutions that can work in schools to reduce children’s exposure to air pollution.

We test air quality both outside and inside buildings including public spaces, offices, homes, and schools. Airclean’s basic Air Quality Tests measure levels of Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5), Nitrogen Dioxide (NOx), and VOCs, which are all products of air pollution often caused by vehicles. As part of a basic air quality test we also measure Carbon Dioxide which gives an indication of fresh air supply in a building.

Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery Unit (MVHR) with filtration

Outside of the school in areas such as playgrounds it is difficult to protect the children from vehicle pollutants. However we see opportunities and ideas that can be incorporated in playground design to improve the ingress of pollution via barriers / fences, enclosed areas and potentially filtered enclosures.

Inside the class room controlling pollution is much easier and Pollution Air Filter Technology can be used to reduce Particulate Matter and Harmful Gases to safe levels and Airclean offer a complete range of Pollution Filter Solutions that can work inside the classroom.

    Case Study

Installation of a Pollution Air Filter System to Protect Children and Employees in a South London Nursery School located on a Busy Road.

Airclean were approached by a South London Nursery School to help design a scheme to protect children and employees from the potential ingress of outdoor pollution being brought into the building. The Nursery School was located on a busy road with both NOx levels and Particulate Matter Levels that exceeded target limit concentrations from the local authority. Airclean helped achieve good air quality using recirculating and filtered supply air systems to achieve good levels of air quality within the school rooms.
